The brief called for an aquatic motif, and in response, I chose to depict two figures in dynamic motion, symbolizing the energy and fluidity of the river. Rather than focusing on hyper-realism, the figures are breaking away from traditional representation to create a more conceptual expression of the canoeist’s journey.

The faces of the figures are intentionally Malaysian, subtly honoring the local culture while allowing the form to transcend specific ethnic identities. Male Canoeist celebrates both the natural beauty of water and the strength of human perseverance, capturing a moment of fluid motion and balance. Positioned within the hotel, it evokes a sense of harmony between art, nature, and the vibrant cultural essence of Malaysia.
